Bajo Carvin TBS4 Timothy B. Schmit Signature Series Passive Bass

Bajo Carvin TBS4 Timothy B. Schmit Signature Series Passive Bass

Informacion del Producto

Carvin designed the TBS4 to Eagles bassist Timothy B. Schmit's personal specifications. Timothy perfers a less-complicated electronics package, and the TBS4 delivers that, with a single volume control and passive electronics. The TBS4 is based on the LB70, with upgraded features such as an AAAA flamed maple top, tung-oiled neck no inlays on the fingerboard. The body is alder, and the neck-through maple neck is 1/16" thinner than the LB70 neck. The TBS4 can be customized with many options from the Custom Shop, allowing you to create a unique and personal instrument.

When Carvin first approached me about playing one of their basses in the early 90’s I was, quite frankly, leary of the idea. I had been playing my old favorites for years and didn’t think I could ever be happy with something different. Then I realized this might be a chance to actually do a little designing of my own, but I didn’t know if they would be receptive to the idea. It turned out all I had to do was ask. At first, I think they thought my ideas were a little strange because I didn’t want more, I wanted less. My approach to the bass is one of simplicity. I prefer to do any EQing on my amplifier, not on the instrument itself, so my biggest request was to have a passive bass with one knob: volume only. What a concept. After a little head scratching my request was approved. My other wishes were of a standard nature; color, hardware, neck, etc. The finished result was so fantastic that the bass you see me playing ninety percent of the time in concert is that very same bass Carvin first put together for me. And so now, a few years later, Carvin has approached me again, but this time with the idea of doing a Timothy B. Schmit signature model. I thought this was a great idea, but it’s important to me that you know exactly what it is I play, so here are the specs: LB20 four string (passive electronics) One Knob (controls volume only) Two H50S Stacked Humbucking Pickups (again, both controlled by the one volume) TN (Tung oil finish back of neck), NIN No inlays on top of fingerboard (side dots only) Of course, Carvin is prepared to offer a variety of options, but for my tastes, the simpler the better. Finally, I should tell you that Carvin has gone out of their way to duplicate my number one bass by meticuloulsy measuring every aspect of it from top to bottom. This is to insure that, should you choose one of these signature instruments, you will be getting the real thing. Enjoy, Timothy B. Schmit
